Getting Started
Did you know that you can add your own backgrounds photos to Red Mercury solitaire, freecell and spider games? You can enjoy custom background photos with both all Red Mercury Palm and PC card games.
Each card game comes with a few built in background photos to choose from, but it is more fun to add your own!
You can use any JPEG digital image as a game background.
On flickr (a Yahoo! company) you have access to hundreds of photos to enjoy as game backgrounds. Share your photos with other AcidSolitaire players by adding them to AcidSolitaire Collection Public Group.
Join the Group
The AcidSolitaire Collection flickr group was created as a central place to share and discuss photos to use as solitaire game backgrounds.
You will need to set up a flickr account in order to join the group. This is easy to do and you can even use your Yahoo login to join.
However, you don't need to join the group to download photos. You can download photos from the AcidSolitaire Collection flickr photo page. You just won't have access to the group photos until you join.
Download Photos
Most photos on flickr and all AcidSolitaire photos are available in the following sizes:
- 75x75 pixels
- 120 pixels (on the longest side)
- 240 pixels
- 500 pixels
- Large
- And the original size (if you hold a pro account)
You can access all of these sizes via the "All Sizes" icon above the photo on its individual page.
Select which size image you want to download and click the download link. If you intend to use the photo as a background on your Palm, we recommend downloading the medium size. However, download the larger version if you will be using the image as a background on your PC.
Share Your Photos
Create a flickr account so you can upload and organize your own photos. Add your photos to the AcidSolitaire Collection Public Group pool to share with other ASC fans.
The easiest way is to go to the photo's page, and click on the "Send to Group" button on the left side. Click that, then choose the group you want to send it to, and you're done!
If you have more than one photo you want to add, the best way is to use Organizr. When the Organizr loads, you'll see a 'Your groups' tab on the right-hand panel. Find the photos you want to add, and drag them onto the group! (There's more information and a video of this process here.)
Once a photo is in a group pool, only you and the group administrators can remove it.
Add New Backgrounds to Your Solitaire Game
To add new JPEG photos to your solitaire games, click the menu icon on the quick-access toolbar and select "Select Background..." from the menu options.
Select a photo from the list or click the "Advanced" button to add additional directories located on your computer.
Other settings include:
- Match image aspect ratio: the game window will automatically resize to fit the aspect ratio of the photo.
- Cycle background on win: a fun way to enjoy a new background after every game you win.
Click the "Add directory" button and browse the file directories on your computer. Then click "Ok". All JPEG images found in the selected directory will appear in the list on the "Select Background" screen.
Enjoy playing solitaire with your new favorite backgrounds. To quickly change your background just press F1(previous) or F2 (next) to cycle through your photos.
